art > reawaken the magic.

Judith Clay is an extremely imaginative illustrator in Sindelfingen, Germany who describes her magical and often surreal drawings as echoes of her feelings and her connection with childhood. Her drawing, “The Juggler’s House” (seen above), was recently selected by Urban Outfitters to be sold in their print shop via their partnership with Society6! Learn more about Judith and her work below…

“I draw. And I dream. And I draw. It’s what keeps me sane, and since I’m not an athletic person and I’m not into shopping, it gives me something to do. I love to draw, because it’s such a quiet, contemplative, almost meditative process that allows me to connect with my imagination and inner self to make pictures that make me happy (and hopefully others, too).”

“With my pictures, I try to re-awaken the magic, emotions, and freedoms we experienced in our childhood. I strive to add something magical, or surreal, or ‘what’s that?’ to all my pictures, trying to create (temporary) escapes from reality. In my experience, reality will be there soon enough again (bills, deadlines, favorite drawing pads discontinued, etc.).”

“Most of my activities center around art at the moment. I am working on becoming my own artist, selling and exhibiting what I create. I’m maintaining several online portfolio/sales sites, and preparing for three new upcoming events and exhibits. So, not much time for anything else.  Well, maybe a movie or a cup of café au lait or a visit to the bookstore…”
