Gert & Uwe Tobias are German artists and twin brothers who together create strange yet graphic and colorful works using woodblock prints and collage. “What we do is basically based on a system of collages. We take a shape, add a second, combining shapes which often don’t actually fit together. It’s an old principle. Some elements certainly are reminiscent, for example of a hare’s head or a bird’s head, but overall we are trying to allow the invention of figures and introduction of elements to create an atmosphere, an image that is somewhat strange,” explains Gert in this video by CFA Berlin.
