art > strange brothers.

Gert & Uwe Tobias are German artists and twin brothers who together create strange yet graphic and colorful works using woodblock prints and collage. “What we do is basically based on a system of collages. We take a shape, add a second, combining shapes which often don’t actually fit together. It’s an old principle. Some elements certainly are reminiscent, for example of a hare’s head or a bird’s head, but overall we are trying to allow the invention of figures and introduction of elements to create an atmosphere, an image that is somewhat strange,” explains Gert in this video by CFA Berlin. the flood #5 is here!

(COVER DESIGN by Mark Warren Jacques)

The Flood #5 is here and she’s a beaut! The Fall edition of the zine wraps up our first year of issues and becomes the 5th in a series of releases of 60 full-color hand-bound pages of pure creative excellence in art, design, fashion, photography, music, and books. It’s basically like reading the zine in print form, but it’s even better than that because you get it from the helpful hands of the post office (just like the olden days!). P.S. Often times, more zines, stickers, and other fun little goodies tend to mysteriously make their way into the envelope along with the issue, too.

FEATURING WORK BY: Sarah Hoffman, Leslie Barlow, Angie Wang, John Vasiliou, Nom Kinnear King, Becha, Jamie Armstrong, Mark Warren Jacques, Alex M.F. Quicho, Sophie Lundström Halbert, Eleni Nikoletsos, Alanna Olson, Light the Underground, and Erosie.

You can preview the issue here, or make your way directly over to the shop to get your copy in either print ($5 + shipping) or a digital download ($3). You can even see how the issue was made here. This also means that we’re now accepting submissions for The Flood #6! More info >
